And Oprah's stirring and educational words were powerful, but how many of the directors of the films she produces are women? Just a quick look - her most recent The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks is a drama television film directed by George C. Wolfe . Were there no women capable of directing this? Ok, she used Ava DuVernay to direct Selma, but I think everyone knows what I'm talking about. Won't even mention that Winfrey's THE BUTLER from 2013 was directed by Lee Daniels - and whisper....produced by...Weinstein! (That's why it can't be mentioned, no matter how good a movie, the touch of Harvey is just death) But I digress. Sorry.
This has to be about more than one night. It has to be about offering contests and scholarships and grants to young women in school and just graduating from school - the next generation. Where are Oprah and Meryl and Reese and and all those other gorgeous, talented RICH women today? Are they with their heads together to figure out a plan as effective as a one-night stand on a TV show that is giving them all awards? I hope so. I hope next year that at least one of the movies this group produces will be up for a prize at the Golden Globes. I am looking forward to it.
And maybe by then, they can wear whatever clothing they want!

(No pretense, this is me again!)
I watched the Golden Globes last night. All the way through. Except for the commercials, but hey, when you gotta go, ya gotta go!
It was impressive - and I loved all the LBDs (little black dresses) Not being interested in fashion, they seemed fine to me. But did I miss something? I was listening closely. There was a lot of talk (always is - it's an awards show - it's a tsunami of talk!) and some very impressive.
But in all the talk, I did not hear one of those rich, beautiful impassioned women say the words....I am starting a company by women for women. With equal pay, and a focus on training women to join this profession without fear.
These are rich women. They have the ability to do this. I heard a lot about how this bad behavior is so bad, how long it's been going on, how.....how it has to stop! But nothing really about any solution that involves women bonding together in a business sense to create a company(like United Artists a century ago)- a company that would give women a chance to show what we can do when unencumbered by groping hands. (And that means groping flesh and money!)

I think Reese already has a company owned and run by women, but I agree there have to be more! #timesup
