(The assistant is looking at the pictures with a magnifying glass)

We never take pictures when someone is sick/. Only at the happy times.  At parties, weddings, no one gets candid shots at a funeral.

Sick.  We say someone is sick when they have a cold.  Or the flu.  Or...something worse, like cancer.  Sympathy is given.  No one wants another person to be sick.

But what kind of sick is it that hurts other living things?  Does anyone really have sympathy for the devil?  They say killers start when they're children, with killing animals, or harming siblings, friends.  It's scary, worse than those scary movies.  Because it's real scary.

Sick.  Can it ever heal?  Is there any medicine that can cure this type of sickness?

(She puts down the magnifying glass, turns to leave)

Can love?

         (Lights down)
