Monologue Mania Day # 1197 Rules of Engagement by Janet S. Tiger (c) May 25, 2017

(This woman is still impressive - she returns with a small book that she lays on the table)

I have a simple philosophy - I do not like people - when I meet them, my dance card is full!  I'm too busy for more friends!  Friends are good for only two things - to take you out to dinner, and if I am tired and have trouble going to sleep, I call a friend who is boring.  As they say now...problem solved.  Better than taking that pill they call champion, no that is not the name.....ambien.

I am not into love.  Hate is a very nice emotion that has a bad reputation.  I don't know why.  I hate many things.  I hate fresh air.  If it's a snowy day, I don't have to go out.  I have to get all made up just to go buy a loaf of bread.

Another thing I hate.....diets.  A waste of time.  My doctor said to eat more healthy food.  I told him, I have the same thing for breakfast every day for fifty years, ever since I became rich.  I sent a letter to the company that used me as slave labor in World War II - the President of the company liked the letter.  Why not?  It was a beautiful letter.

They sent me a very nice check, and stock in their company.  I still hate them because my mother died working in their plant.  But I used their money to make money.

       (She whirls around)

What breakfast do I eat?  I eat egg and sausage on an English muffin with mayonnaise, lots of mayonnaise and do I care?  No.  If you get killed by a truck, no one checks your cholesterol!

(She turns to leave, stops, looks back)

Better to die happy, that's what I say.

        (Lights down, end of scene)
