(Actor is young, kind of itchy)

Hey, your grandmother's still alive, right?  I mean, she lives with you.....and that's nice.  But maybe you can help me.....I mean....what's the big deal?  I mean, hey, what is damn big deal?  My grandmother is ok, I love her, right?  She is great, a lotta fun, and when I was little, she used to sneak me M&Ms when my mom had me on restriction, grandma was cool....but now, she is sayin' stuff I just don't get!

I mean, she always complains about gettin' old, says her bones hurt.  Ok, I got it, she has that arthritis.  But then,  like we went to the beach and she said that when she was kid, she could swim all the way out, way, way out, but she always had the strength to swim back in to the shore.....

And that there was no way I could understand this, because I was young.  Wow, I hate when the adults tell me shit like that.  But she was looking at the ocean, and I don't know, her eyes looked funny and she said, oh, don't worry, I can still swim all the way out!

And we laughed.....but then she said.....'it's the getting back I don't think I can do anymore.....

Whaddaya mean?  She just looked at me and smiled, at least she didn't say that crap about understanding more when I was older......and then she put her arm around me and, she smiled and said.....maybe you'll understand one day...when you're older.......Damn she just had to go ruin a really nice moment!Well, that was two months ago!  And I'm two months older and I still don't get it.....

(Turns to leave, listens, shakes head....)

Maybe,  you're right....maybe.....I don't wanna get it....

           (Shakes his head, exits)
