(The man who comes out is Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and he has a paper in his hand)

My friends, this is my ticket to the United States.  It represents my chance for surviving Hitler and the horror which is about to befall our beloved country.

And this is what I need to tell you.  You are a small town.  Your name is one that when I tell my friends in the United States, many of them laugh.  Finkenwalde.

Finch Forest.  The forest of the birds who sing pretty songs.

And here I hope we shall continue to sing out against injustice.  Some of our friends have already been forced to leave this country, others have been harmed.  And we know of those who have been murdered.  Still we must stay to fight this because when we face God, we must be able to defend our lives.  To show that what we have seen, when it is wrong, we must stand, and we must protest.

For to sit in quiet, or worse, to agree because it suits our purpose of earning more money or succeeding in our profession, these are not what leads to the kingdom of heaven.  This may be a small town, but by fighting against evil, each of us grows large, and very strong.......

So for those who want to know what I am going to do....this is my answer.....

(He takes the ticket, lifts it, and rips it up, dropping the pieces on the ground)

This is part of a movie I would like to write - more on this  amazing man who was involved in the plot to kill Hitler - and gave his life.      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dietrich_Bonhoeffer
