(The location - a book club.  The actor is representing - you guessed it - an author.)

Oh, what an honor to speak here!  Oh, I am speechless!  Well, maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration.  As a writer, I suppose that you wonder why a fellow writer would even suggest that!  But I am surprised when I hear about how writers are so often pre-occupied with the very strange idea of ...(says it with disgust)...what is...truth?

Ha!  I say again...ha!  Lies are what writers live for!  Without lies, there would be no plots, no conflicts, no excitement, no reveals!....no nothin'!

And the best part about lies, is the wonderful grammar about the word itself!  Do we lie?  Or lie on the bed?  Lay on the bed?  Do we lay something on the bed?  Or do we lie about what happened on which bed?

Do we lie about the house?  And what is that lie?  Maybe we lay about the house, then lie about who gets laid!  And who became a father....and who lied to everyone about her baby being her sister, and about......well, telling lies which leads to libel.....

And its cousin....plagiarism, which is another lie.....about who wrote the material in question.

So I ask you, my fellow authors.....who here is lying about that?

And who will be the victim of the lie.....or perhaps....the caustic lye......a good murder weapon in any mystery

(Looks around the room, smiles, turns to leave, stops, looks back)

.......or maybe you should just worry about....what is in your tea.....right now!

          (Exits, laughing)
