(Woman enters, on a crutch, holding  a newspaper.  She opens and reads)

"Woman stabbed after offering homeless man a bottle of water and a sandwich."

That woman would be me.  (reads)  "The man was rummaging through a dumpster...when the victim..."

Again, that's me.  The victim.  (Thinking)  The victim.....that's me, but.......I think maybe.....he was, too.

(Reads)  "Santa Clarita police report the man spit at the woman, then stabbed her in the foot."

          (She waves her foot around)

My foot.

(Reads)  "When police arrived, the suspect was in the area and was arrested.  The 45-year-old woman..."

(Smiles)  Actually, I'm 53, so that's nice......(reads)  the woman was taken to a hospital....."  and this is the part that gets me.....(reads)  "with injuries that weren't life-threatening"

How do you like that?  Not life-threatening!  My life was definitely threatened!  Maybe I won't die.....maybe I'll get over this.....but.....my life is not the same......I knew it could be dangerous what I did, but....I've done this for years.  My church taught me it was the right thing to help the less fortunate........But.....I'm not Jesus!  And I don't want to die over a peanut butter sandwich!

(She scrunches the newspaper and throws it away)

And I don't think Ill be handing out the food to the homeless so fast, because....even though my foot's ok.....I'm..... scared.  Really scared.  (sighs)  So I'll just prepare the sandwiches....

(She turns to leave, stops, looks back)

........because sandwiches won't threaten anyone.....

           (She threatens to exit)

Woman stabbed after offering man a Gatorade

A 59-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of stabbing a woman who offered him a Gatorade in the Shelltown community on Saturday night, San Diego police said.
The man was rummaging through a shopping cart on Main Street near Vesta Street when the victim tried to give him the drink about 8:30 p.m., San Diego police Officer Robert Heims said.

The man is suspected of spinning around, kicking the woman in the leg and stabbing her in the right hip, Heims said.
When police arrived, the suspect was still in the area and was arrested in connection with the attack. The 45-year-old victim was taken to a hospital with injuries that weren’t life-threatening
