(Teacher comes out - retro - old time, ruler in hand)

My dear students, this is the final assignment  - not just for this class, possibly for your whole lives.

You are already familiar with it - you were BORN with it...this is an assignment that you can never escape - even if you try for your whole life!

This my dear class...is the ASSIGNMENT OF BLAME!

It is universal - every day, you will listen to others assigning the blame....on the news, ooh, there's a big one!  Who's to blame for all the horrible things?  The party in power, until they are gone and there is a NEW party to blame!  And the local administration - why else are there potholes and crime and....oh, there's no end to the blame!  A universal constant, endlessly growing, and remarkably individual, too!

Some blame for everyone!  Our parents start, the religious groups and teachers continue....and we instill that blame deep inside of each and every one of you...except of course for serial killers, who do not seem to care at all....or so we're told by the news, who then finds someone else to blame!

And you can join the fun!  Do something wrong, find someone else to blame!  Blame yourself first of course, but then, share the wealth!

For in our blame, we are all rich!

Have wonderful lives......I am now assigning the grades for this class - everyone gets an A for blame!

(Turns to leave, stops, looks back)

And if you don't like it, well, you can always....blame me!
