Monologue Mania Day # 1462 Met  by Janet S. Tiger (c) Feb. 14, 2018

For everyone who has ever met someone special - HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

                                                             Met
A monologue by Janet S. Tiger   © all rights reserved

(The actress comes out - she can be any age, she is smiling, nods)

HER - How did we meet?  Oh, that's a great story!

We met in school...we met at the store.....we met in church, we met on a train!  We met because we worked together, we met because we had friends who introduced us.  We met because he was my boyfriend's best friend!  We met in a park, walking our dogs.  We met....at a meeting!  We met at a wedding.....at a funeral.... at our childrens' school.  We met when he was on the football team and I was a cheerleader.  We were in the band together, on the Academic team together.....working for the same candidate.......We met because he was my teacher, he was my boss, I was his teacher......I was his boss.....we met because we put an ad online, and he was the only one who actually showed up that looked normal!

We met when he crashed his car into mine....we met at the hospital....at the store when he asked me which beans didn't make you pass gas......

We met in a coffee shop, when I spilled my coffee on his newspaper....on his computer... on his lap!

We met........ and it was love at first sight!  There was never anyone else...... we met and we married other people first.......we met and our families loved each other....they hated each other.......we met and we were engaged in two weeks....he was too old.....I was too young....and vice versa!....we married in a year........We met...... and it took us 25 years to get together.....we met and all we did was fight, until we kissed and that was it!

We met and had a wonderful life.....we had lots of problems.....wonderful children.....great sadness.....
We met and it has been a story filled with more twists than ......a bag of pretzels!
It's been an amazing time.......we just met and the rest is just beginning....

I suppose everyone's story is important to them....but I guess, when you get down to it.....all that matters is......we met.......because....we were meant to be........met.

(Alternate ending -A male actor is seen throughout the piece watching her.  When she finishes, he smiles.)

HIM -  How did we meet?

(He reaches out to take her arm.  She smiles)

            Just what she said!

(They exit together to a beautiful Valentine's Day)

This was first posted two years ago today Feb. 14, 2016 - a few changes, but basically the same - this piece is very versatile - it can be done - with minor alterations - for anyone who have ever met someone!

Happy Valentines Day,
I remember when we met! (Not really, but I think it was at 40th street for sure!)
Love you!
