Monologue Mania Day # 1467 We'll See by Janet S. Tiger (c) Feb. 19, 2018

(Actress enters, looks to the wings, listens)
What did you ask me?  I didn't catch it....(listens, smiles)

  We'll see.....

           (Turns to the audience)

In the past, when people talked to me, I used to respond with 'okay' figuring that would cover everything. It took me many years to realize that  'okay' to most people means 'yes.'

So I have decided to adopt a new phrase  and that phrase is.....

We'll see

'We'll see' covers just about everything!

Do you want to go to the show with me - we'll see.   It's not a yes.... it's not a no....so it allows you to get some distance between the person before you actually tell them ....no.

And it also allows you to avoid the word 'never' because that is a word of Youth.

When young and foolish, 'never' is something we often say-

I am never going to do that again

I am never going to say that to anyone ever again!  Especially my children!

I am never going in that store for the rest of my life.

I'm never going to talk to that person again in my life and maybe even Beyond

I'm never going to sleep with that person again ever ever never never and I'll certainly never get married to that person......

(Looks at her arm, rubs it)

And I will never put up with treatment like that...never ever.

Okay perhaps one more chance.

(Sighs, then stands up straight)  And then we look back, and realize.....we never stuck to those nevers.  So....the introduction of the new......'we'll see'

(Turns to leave, stops, looks back)

Do I think I can keep this up?

We'll see!

         (Exits......never to say never again)
