Monologue Mania Day # 1460 It's Not Me!  by Janet S. Tiger (c) Feb. 12, 2018

                                                 It’s Not Me
A monologue by Janet S. Tiger   © all rights reserved
            (Man comes onstage, shaking head)

I know what she wrote in the novel, about a husband and a wife……but can’t you see, the husband….it’s not me!

I told her when she wrote this, I don’t want anyone to know that it was based on our story, so she promised to change everything, and she did!

I mean, look!  They’ve been married 31 years and we’ve been married for 40!  Big difference!  And they met in Wichita, you know we’re from Texas!  And he’s Mexican and I sure am not Mexican!  So, it’s not me!

            (Listens, shakes head)

What do you mean? “I doth protest too much”  I told you…there’s nothing to protest!  (Very incensed)  Especially not the scenes in bed!  That’s not me!

(Takes a deep breath, turns to leave, stops, looks back)

But when she gets that big royalty check and asks how to spend it….baby, that’s me!

           (Exits, smiling)
