Well, everyone, we are coming up on my favorite holiday of the year.....no, not Thanksgiving or Christmas....but the holiday we all do every single day of the year .....Labor Day!
No day off for the caregiver....the patients, the family members, the friends.....there is no day off from eating, or getting help dressing, or meds......no day off for good....or bad!....behavior!
And if our loved one is in a home, being cared for by paid helpers, we go to visit on Labor Day.....to check up that everything is OK!
So....for all those who thinking working is hard....maybe take a minute to think about the last time a caregiver you know had one day not to labor on........even if it all is....a labor of love!
(Turns to leave, stops, smiles)
And that means the person who wrote this, too!
