Monologue Mania Day #451  by Janet S. Tiger  May 9, 2015

                            Decisions, Decisions

(This is Detective Accorsi....and he is the opposite of the messy Columbo-esque detective- he a very debonair guy, quiet, not smoking, the kind who has a perfectly folded handkerchief in the breast pocket of his perfectly fitted suit)

Thank you for listening to me.  I know this can't be easy for you, especially since you've had such hard times this year.  Losing a partner, troubles with the estate of that partner, a marriage that is strained because of these problems.  All perfect fodder for a visit from your old school pal.

And he will come.  The only question is when......I do know - from experience - it will be soon.  You are the weakened animal in the herd, and he smells the wounds.

So you will be the bait ........and you have now some serious choices.  Had I not offered you what I am offering......your choices would seem to be....yes or no.  But now, you have the option of doing something wonderful for your neighborhood......getting rid of a cancerous lesion that has caused lots of problems for decades....since your pal was a teenager, and took over this work from his father.  I hope you choose to help us......

        (He listens, nods)

Good for you....you noticed I said your choices from your old pal would 'seem' to be yes or no.  Most people think, when Mr. Buciare comes and offers you a chance to have a building burned down, to get the insurance money (mocking) without anyone being harmed......that they have the chance to say 'yes' or 'no.'  This is often a fatal mistake - not for the ones who say yes, because once they accept the devil's proposition, they are in his debt forever.  But the few, the ones with a conscience- the ones who refuse, they cannot be allowed to keep walking around here, for they might slip up, mention this offer to someone......someone who comes to me.

You wondered how I knew all this, now you know......and you also know that if they find out you are working with the police, you will also meet with an unfortunate accident.  So choose wisely now my friend.

For this may be the last important choice you get to make.....this side of heaven.......

(Lights get very bright on him then go to black sharply.  End of scene.)
