Monologue Mania Day #  1707 Spider Power (for Halloween) by Janet S. Tiger (c) Oct. 19,  2018

(Part of  the countdown for Halloween - only this is..... the real scary stuff)

(Actor enters - all in black - with many arms)

Thank you for that great introduction!  And thank you, Shark Tank for allowing me to be the representative for the first inter-species company on the tank!

I know it was a tough choice - all of you sharks have dogs and the dogs were tough competition, I mean they are cute, but they just don't focus very well, and they are not big into inventions - and God knows, they poop all over!  So we spiders are happy to bring in the very first invention from another species - I would like to present, from the caverns of the SPA - Spider Protection Association - the Web Beautifier!

Let me illustrate -

           (Indicates a screen)

Spider webs are amazing!  They are built in a short time, but they are a true feat of engineering!

-here is a typical web - it starts out beautiful, look at those lines, and how the morning drops of moisture glisten!  (sighs)  but then people get upset because there is a great deal of anti-spider prejudice - and so they try to rip down the web, and so the perfect symmetry and dew catching ability is compromised!

Why do people hate us poor spiders?  We have a terrible rep!  Without us you would be overrun with those horrible flying bugs you hate!  Mosquitos and those flying dirt bombs - the moths!  I think you hate us because the webs get messy!

We have the solution!  Lightweight designs to enhance a web's beauty over the life of the web - sometimes as long as weeks!

We have designs for summer.....see the imitation butterfly!  And for winter - how do you like those snowflakes.....and of course, for Halloween!  Plus, we have a special design for hoarders who do not like to dust.....it makes the webs look like flowers!

Sharks - please join me in helping change the way people think of my whole species -   (sobbing a bit)  My mother herself was a victim of spider hatred!  Sucked into a vacuum when I was just in the sac!  Saved from murder myself by her unselfish acts, I vowed to make a difference!

You sharks can help me spin a web of beauty and change!

Thank you!

(Bows and exits - to save the strands!)
