(Person with clipboard runs through audience, then up onstage)

Hey, you, I see you trying to sneak by! Come on! Sign the petition!

(Shakes head, turns to another person in audience)

It only takes a minute! Come on! You spent ten minutes on your phone looking at pictures of cats playing the piano!

(Chases the person, then shakes head)

Whew! That was rough! She was very fast for an old lady!

(Sees another person goes over)

Hi! This is a very important petition! Please help.....

(Jumps backwards as if being hit)

Wow! Didn't have to be so mean!

(Takes a deep breath then sees another person and runs over)

Hey......are you a registered voter! I thought so! Come on, take a look at this....we only need a few more signatures! And you seem like a nice lady, please......

(Can't believe reaction, shakes head)

(Angry) You didn't even let me tell you what the petition is for! I mean, if you listened, you might want to sign! Jeez!

(Turns to leave, stops, looks back)

(Smiling) It's to get something on the ballot - to stop people signing petitions in public places!

(Exits laughing)
