(The woman who comes to speak is very elegant, well-dressed, with an expensive purse and clothing. She is smiling. She points to the wheelchair.)
I refuse to sit in that thing again! And I want you to know that this is really my last time here. I know I have said this before, but I always sat in the wheelchair. I guess, it was a form of...solidarity. Or something. But now things are different.
How, you ask? Very different. Well, I hope everyone here is happy. Because I have...what's the word we have when one of us no longer has to worry about the person we were taking care of.......(listens)..that's it ...graduated! I have graduated!
I don't have to take care of Paul anymore! Excuse me, Pablo. And no, he is not dead! He has......left me!
Can you believe it? After forty years! Forty years married, forty years taking care of him! And, as you know, these last six years he was in a wheelchair due to that horrible arthritis! I had to put toothpaste on his toothbrush for God's sake! Forty years!
(She shudders, points at all of them)
And it's all because of you! That's right, it's all your fault!
You told me that I should get some help with Paul....excuse me, Pablo...... So I did, a nice lady of about 55, no great beauty, who came into my house and relieved me of all my duties.......including those as a wife! That's right, fans, Paul has left me....for ...Esmerelda!
(She fingers the jewelry)
But thank goodness one of my children is a lawyer, so I got just about everything. But don't worry - I did let him keep the long-term care insurance! Have to go, have an appointment with my travel planner, I am taking a vacation - by myself! - for the first time in forty years!
(She turns to leave, stops, looks back)
I told you it was all your fault, but I did want to say one more thing to this group - THANK YOU!
(She exits in a flurry. End of scene)

Funny! Sounds like one of those "stranger than fiction" stories.
