(One of the caregivers runs in, raising hands as in victory.  Is wearing a number
on the front, like a runner, stops, is gasping, the others are cheering)

I can't believe it!  I made it!  I got through another day!  (Deep breath)  I will not go through the
different tasks of the day - we all have the same list!  But I will ask everyone a very simple question
- one that is bothering me no matter how fast I run.  Or how far I don't go no matter how fast I run!

Ok, here it is.  We are all in a race.  Faster and faster!  Even as we age, there is always a rush....
.and now, with several friends and family coming close to that finish line.....who will get there first?

All the way to the finish line.  Which is....death.

So, why is it a race?  Why does anyone want to win this race?

Or is  that why they call it.....the human race?

(Goes to sit in the wheelchair.  Lights down, end of scene)
