(The actors are discussing their morning routines.)

ANN -  Morning routine?  Some days - if I took a nap in the winter when it got dark early - I would forget if it was day or night! I didn't know if it was time for breakfast or dinner!

            (The others laugh and nod)

KYLE -  In the morning, I gotta help gramps to the bathroom, help him shave and, you know, (he's a little embarrassed)... stuff like that....

(George stands and swings his right arm out suddenly.  The others are surprised)

GEORGE - (Laughs)  Not to worry, just checking.....When I was a kid, we had an old Ford, no seatbelts, and I remember when we sat in the front seat, whoever was driving, my mama, or my daddy, if there was something where they had to stop sudden, like an animal, or a kid on a bike, they would throw out their arm....like this...

           (He illustrates again)

JEANNIE -  My dad used to do that!

GEORGE -  I used to do it, too, until my kids told me they wore their seat belts, so I should stop, it was making them nervous.....but old habits die hard....so, when I wake up in the morning, first thing I do.....(swings his arm again)....is check to see if my wife is still there, I mean, still in bed.  Sometimes, in the middle of the night, she gets the wanders.....part of the sickness.....now, it's easier, there's a caregiver. her name is Juanita....very nice lady...she gets...paid.....to make sure my wife's ok.  That she doesn't...escape....gives her breakfast at three in the morning.....Worth every penny....well, maybe a million pennies.....

           (Looks at Ann, she nods)

GEORGE -  But it's funny, even though I know she is ok, my first thing, even before I'm fully awake...is the same thing......

(This time, he closes his eyes and swings out his arm slowly, reaching out his hand, opens his eyes and looks, then drops his arm)

GEORGE -  And for just a tiny minute, she is there.....

          (Lights down.)
