Monologue Mania Day # 1249 A New Super Power by Janet S. Tiger (c) July 16, 2017

(Man enters, dressed nicely, as if going to someone's house for dinner, because maybe he is...He turns to the audience and tips his hat.  British accent will help)

Yes, my friend, I am, once again, ready to eat.  You asked me my secret, well, it's no secret, really.  I have a super power.....an ability to befriend people in the blink of an eye.  Yes, it is an art form, and I have perfected it!

I cannot recall, in the last ten, twenty years, when I have had to prepare my own food.  You see that all I have in my refrigerator is coffee for my breakfast, and leftovers from other meals.

Not having to shop for food allows me a great deal of extra time - to meet others who will, after a few moments talking while sitting in a coffee shop, or waiting in a doctor's office - will invite me over.

To insure good food, I only speak with those in the better neighborhoods.  I completely avoid riffraff.  No McDonald's for me, indeed!

I have a palate well developed over years of dining in the finest of homes and restaurants.

Through my secret power.....I have traveled the world, met many fascinating people, and now, in the twilight of my life, find myself able to instruct youth in the finer details that will enable you to follow in my well-fed footsteps.

The secret in befriending those able to feed you is simple......let them speak.  Listen to their stories, no matter how boring, laugh in the right places, and the result will be food, often lodging, sometimes clothing, and in rare cases, automobiles and trips to foreign lands.

You'll excuse me now, I must go.  Never be late for a free meal - it could your last!

(Turns to leave, stops, looks back)

What did you ask?  The cost?  There is no cost.......having a super power is reward enough....for..the amazing, the stupendous......the every hungry......Supperman!

         (Exits to another culinary event)
