Monologue Mania Day #525 Shorty by Janet S. Tiger  July 22, 2015

An actor has requested a monologue designed for someone...... a bit different than everyone else.....to be used to open a show, or introduce another act.......so hope this works!

(This monologue is for a VERY tall actor.  Over 6'6" will be better - the visual has to be that the audience will think - 'wow, that guy is tall'.)

Hi, everyone.  My name is________________, but my friends all call me ....Shorty.

That's right.  Shorty.  And here is the reason.  I am shorter.  Truly.  When I was born, I was 7'4" tall.  You heard me.  Seven foot four inches.

(Listens, puts hands on hips, annoyed)

My Mama swore that to me, and I believe her...she was there when I was born!.....and if you don't believe my mama, well, see me after the show and we can talk about what happens to people who don't believe my mama!

(Cups his ear to listen, shakes his head)

What's there to understand?  It's simple! Over the years I have shrunk.  So, that's why they call me...Shorty.

Anyhow, please give a warm welcome for our next act....___________________

(He turns to leave, stops, looks back)

And that's what they call a ......wait for it folks....that's what they call a .....Tall Tale!

(He covers his head and runs off.....but like love - the show will go on! )
