Monologue Mania Day # 735 The Right Person by Janet S. Tiger Feb.17, 2016

(A teenage girl comes onstage reading a romance novel. She finishes the last page and holds the book to her chest.)
In these books, everything always turns out perfect! But not in the world I live in!
What if.......what if the right person for me lives in a remote part of the world?
(She looks around, horrified)
What if the right person was born 200 years ago?
What if the right person hasn't been born yet?
What if there is no right person?
What if he isn't going to ride up on his white horse, or put a coat down so I won't have to walk in the mud.....what if he isn't going to fall through the roof?
What if.....they are all the wrong person...,,,
What if I never get to procreate and all my genes dribble away into space?
What if...I end up like my mother's friend who never got married....never had a boyfriend....never....
NEVAH! What if.....I read all every single one of these books and there were none left! AAAAAAH!
(She waves the book around)
Why did my mother gets me hooked on these!
(She lets out a big sigh, then straightens up)
Oh well,.......Maybe I should have born a guinea pig......
(She turns to leave, stops, looks back, brightens, reaches into a pocket)
Yeah! I knew I had one more of these to read!
(She exits - happy to return to a world of fantasy....and not as a guinea pig)
