(Actress enters, she is dressed for the part....any part! But she is nervous, wringing her hands)
Oh......why did I agree to this?
I mean, why did I say I'd do a part that I hadn't read? How stupid! How idiotic! How....can I get out of it!
But I promised......and my word is good.....but....
.... now that I read it, I wish I'd never said
That I'd do it, because I don't want to!
Because it's just not very good...
And It's been done before
Why do I want more?
There's something about this script....
I know it......(thinking)
I remember.......(horrified)
I did something like this years ago!
It's so familiar!
I think I can still recall the lines.....
The audience hated it!
I hated it!
And by the end of the run,
The writer hated it!
But. now...... all that really matters....
Beyond the altruistic of...the show must go on
We must all do our best!
Please don't block me when I have a line!
So.......the real issue......
Is there really a part for me?
Is there?
(She exits, eternally hopeful)
