Monologue Mania Day #  1403 Yes by Janet S. Tiger (c) Dec.17, 2017

                                    Yes
a monologue by Janet S. Tiger (c) all rights reserved 2017
                                                                tigerteam1@gmail.com
         (Parent comes onstage, wearing black)

Can I please go play with Bobby? Can I please have an extra hamburger tonight? Can I please go visit Grandma..... can I stay overnight?

Can I.... may I .....please it's only for a little bit.....it's not a problem .....I'll be home soon.... don't worry.

Yes it's okay ....you can do it .......yes ........not a problem ........yes remember to say thank you when you leave ........to say thank you for the ride

Yes.  All those yes-es.

Why did I say yes?   Why did I say yes? Why did I say yes?   Why did I say yes?.... it was a parent driving.....

I trust that parent ...they did nothing wrong ....it  was another driver.... a drunk driver ....if only...if only.... my whole life I will hear myself saying ....yes...every day, in my head.......I will wonder ifjust this once I had said no....... maybe you would still be here.....

Yes.......maybe you would.....

(Turns to leave, shakes head, exits to a life of wondering)
