(Older man comes on, walking slowly with a cane)
I used to catch criminals, bail jumpers. To look at me now, you probably wonder, when was that? In another century? Well, yes, it was.
Funny, we had a saying for those people who might jump bail....we called them 'flight risks' ....they were the folks who made the bad decisions. Decisions......will they sneak out the back, or try to bluff it out the front door.....they always said...'that's not me, you have the wrong guy'
The wrong guy. Now..... that's me.
I can't remember where I live anymore. All the streets are changed. Everyone tells me they haven't, but I swear, I have become ......the flight risk. Not intentional mind you, just.....the way it goes......the world is in a state of confusion - or my head is. Either way, not easy.
But I suppose in some ways, this is softer than just getting hit by a bus. Slower, but softer. And I feel no pain. Because....I don't feel that much. And that's why I wet my pants. Like I was two again.
And I remember that for some reason.....two.
(Turns to leave, stops, looks back)
They tell me to make decisions - but how can I, when I can't remember the choices?
(Exits but doesn't leave yet)
