A Total Eclipse

(Isaac enters, he is in his thirties, early forties, he looks around, thinking)
So that was your first eclipse. Amazing? All that energy! It only comes around once in a lifetime, and you got to see it! The sun! The magnificent sun! The strongest most important thing in our solar system...outside of math class that is.......(reverent) the sun.......powerful....unstoppable.....and yet.... it can be stopped by a much smaller body stepping in the way.
(He opens a book, reads out loud)
Eclipse
Noun -
- 1.an obscuring of the light from one celestial body by the passage of another between it and the observer or between it and its source of illumination....as in
"an eclipse of the sun"
(He closes the book, smiles)
And one day, if you are all very, very lucky....you will find out the true meaning of a very old song called....Total Eclipse of the Heart.......that I never understood until...I met a celestial body that passed between me and the source of illumination .....her name was......Ariana....
(Lights down, but will go up on Ariana, and the start of the scene where they meet)
