(Older man enters, he is dressed well, stands tall)
I just want you to know, I am capable of many accents, (illustrates as he speaks the language) my British is jolly good! and my German.....wunderbar! I do a bonnie Scotsman, and my Southern is somethin' Tennessee |Williams would just swoon ovah!
And, as you can see, I can play older...I am 80, and go as high as 100......although my goal is to play the 1000 year old man!
Of course, you may not realize it, but I can play younger, too - I think I can pass for ...oh.....65 if need be.......what?
(Listens)
I see. You want someone who is 45 to play this 60 year old! So, the only age when a person gets to play younger.....is when you are younger.....when you're 25 and look 15.......the kind of person the pornographer loves, am I right? I am. And you, you are very wrong! I am strong and capable and I do not do all the drugs these young people do! I listen, a trait not valued much anymore....and I will work harder than two 40-year-olds! Or four 20-year-olds!
So if you are worried that I will drop dead in the middle of rehearsals, I have a story for you to ponder - in my last show, I was waiting for my entrance with a young gentleman of 22. As it came time for us to enter, I looked at him, and saw him slide down to the ground, a needle in his arm! I had to get someone to call for an ambulance, then go on with the scene - PLAYING BOTH PARTS!
(Turns to leave, stops, looks back, pulls a cell phone from pocket)
And I don't use one of these either!
So if that isn't enough to convince you to hire an older actor like me, well, then.....(sputtering)...MacBeth you all!
(Exits, if not with the part, at least with a flourish)
