I told you, you don't hafta worry about me, I'm fine.....just takes me a bit to get goin in the mornin....of course, I had a hard night.....my mother came and took the children.....and did not leave a letter or note or anythin! I was worried all night....My momma she does things like that, I mean I love her, but when she takes those children, they are not old enough to do some things, and to be out all night!
I could not sleep a wink! I was thinkin of callin the police, but then.....this mornin, I remembered somethin......my momma died five years ago, and my children are all grown.....or is she gone ten years.....or....when did she die? Maybe she is still alive....she's not well, can't remember things, just like me......I swear I heard her voice outside, clear as a bell........it had to be her.........what is it I remember? Sometimes I wonder.....
And I do recall, when my daughter was little, she came to me one day and asked...'How do we know which is real? How do we know this is not the dream, and when we're asleep, that's not the real?'
And I wasn't sure what to say......but I know now that is exactly what I ask myself every day.....
(She turns to leave, stops, looks back)
I suppose reality is not my friend anymore.....but you are my dear......my friend....come in and we can have some coffee today, like we do every day.....until one of us leaves for the dream world......for real....
(She exits into a world of.......)
