Monologue Mania Day #817 Numbers (for Osculation) by Janet S. Tiger (c) May 9, 2016
This was written last night and I tried to post it before midnight, but blogspot was down, so I sent a copy to my sister before midnight to PROVE I had maintained my (almost) perfect record of posting every day.

(Isaac enters with Ariana. He is listening, trying to understand)
ISAAC- I know you hate math, but....I guess I really just...like numbers. Always did....I mean, the number one, now that is an amazing number! It's a line, so it's infinite, but it's only ....one. Infinity in one.......it stands tall, like a person can, because no matter how you square one, it's always one.....One to the first is one, one to the one millionth power.....still one! An infinity of one!
And anything you multiply by one, is still itself. How powerful is that! It's the power of one, and it's magnified......
ARIANA- (thinking) If you're gonna talk silly like that, I think zero makes more sense....it represents nothing and a lot more..... a whole lot of nothing!
ISAAC - (Hard for him to say) But what you want to do....to cheat on this....it's not nothing....
ARIANA - That's easy to say for a person who never had to cheat.....
(She turns to go, stops looks back)
ARIANA- But didn't your parents ever play you that old song....
ISAAC - What song?
ARIANA - (sings) One is the loneliest number......
(Lights dim as she exits, leaving him alone)
