(Ariana and Isaac are finished practicing for the academic decathalon and are talking)
ISAAC - So, let me get this straight, you don't believe in infinity?
ARIANA - I didn't say that, I said there is no such thing as infinity.
ISAAC - Same thing!
ARIANA - So not! One is a belief, the other is a fact. Infinity is like the rest of math, all imagination, so, there's an end to it, like everything else.
ISAAC - (Laughing) I can't believe you said that!
ARIANA - Because you don't believe what I said?
ISAAC - Wait a minute, I think....I think I almost understood you.....
ARIANA - So that's good, right?
ISAAC - I'm not so sure.....a part of me wants to understand, but....maybe I'll never understand what you say....
ARIANA - Well, that's no problem, because never is not infinite either!
ISAAC - Of course it's infinite, it's like forever which means no end....and it's.....never! As in, I will never understand....
ARIANA - (Laughing back) But never is an exact amount of time!
ISAAC - Do tell....
ARIANA - I learned about never when I was a little girl. You see, my mother refused to go to Long's because someone made her mad, and she said she would never go again .....ever. And then, 10 years 3 months and 2 days later, she returned to Long's because they had a sale on styrofoam cups that was way cheaper than Kmart. And my mother was getting married again and needed cups and she was on a budget and .....weddings will do that to people. So, that's how I learned..... never is exactly 10 years 3 months and 2 days - according to my mother who actually denied that she had ever said she would never shop at Long's again - and this was after she returned to shopping there.
(She stops and takes a deep breath)
ARIANA - 10 years, 3 months and 2 days. Never.
(She turns to leave)
ISAAC - Well, thank you for clarifying that.
ARIANA - When I have the exact date for infinity, will let you know.....
(Blackout. End of scene)
