Monologue Mania Day # 1340 Closing Doors by Janet S. Tiger (c) Oct. 15, 2017

(This is a spokesperson, suit and tie, a little nervous, but very impressed with himself.  Even though he knows what is about to be said)

Ladies and gentlemen of the press, I mean persons of the press.  The Motion Picture Association has reached some very difficult decisions during our most recent meeting, and it is my sad duty to release this information to you.

As everyone is aware, we removed you-know-who from our membership following the  recent discovery of his abomidable behavorior towards young women,  It is the belief of the association that this behavior must NEVER be tolerated!  If we had known the details of this disgusting history, we would have removed Mr.  Name Who Can Never Be Mentioned years ago!

Unfortunately, due to the removal, several members and members of the public have proceeded to ask some very disturbing questions.

       (Reading from paper)

An email asks, " Didn't Roman Polanski commit a crime - rape of a minor - for which he was convicted and escaped to another country?  And wasn't he nominated after this conviction?  And didn't he receive an Oscar?  And isn't he still a member? How does this make sense?

(Laughs, under his breath)  As if Hollywood ever makes sense!

        (Opens another email)

and this email mentions Bill Cosby.....oh, I can't read most of this.....but it reminds the Association that Mr. Cosby has 50 women accusing him of similar crimes....and he is still a member.

And these men donated lots of money just like Mr. know.

So, because of the outcry from the public, the Association has done a very difficult task - weeding out all of its members who have, well, not used their members in a polite way.

Due to this removal of members, the Association will now cease continuing as a group, as there are no more members left.

(Folds the papers, puts them in pocket, straightens up, turns to leave, stops, looks back)

Since this is my last public appearance, I have to say something for myself.  I understand what you-know-who did is wrong, but, where does it stop?  Is everyone going to take down Picasso's paintings because Picasso beat his women? I never tried to get a girl onto the casting couch.  And now, I am out of a job.  Somehow, it does not seem......fair.

         (He exits....another casualty of hypocrisy!)

This MPA organization is based loosely on a real group - Motion Picture Academy.  And the rest , sadly enough, is real, too!

Both Bill Cosby and Roman Polanski remain members in good standing of the MPA - along with many others well known to act the same way Weinstein did.
