Monologue Mania Day #1119 by Janet S. Tiger (c) Mar. 7, 2017

                                                  SO NOT
                                                         a monologue   by
by Janet S. Tiger (c) all rights reserved (c) 2017

(Younger actress emerges, she is reading a newspaper article, shaking her head, rolling her eyes)

I can't believe what they wrote!  Did this guy even see me in this play?  I mean, I got three curtain calls!  And that reporter said this was not a review, just an article!

This is SO NOT me! I mean, they asked me questions and I told them what I thought, but then, they, like changed everything I said!  And it sounds....weird!

Where did they get this from?  I mean, who talks like this?  (thinks)  Wait, maybe, some of my friends talk like this....  did they really say this about me?  (Horrified)  What the....

(She reads more and is upset, becomes younger, like a teenager)

I did everything they told me to do!  I cut my hair the way they wanted and did my nails like they said I should, and I got that stupid tattoo that hurt like hell and I smoked those cigarettes.....and I even....(gets really upset)  I even broke up with Jordan and I didn't want to, because I really liked him, but they didn't.....they said he wasn't right for me ....and how would they know?

Well I don't care what they say about me!  I don't care what they think about me!  I am SO NOT caring that.....that.....

(She turns away, takes out a kleenex and wipes eyes, then blows nose.)

I am SO NOT caring that.....so not....

(She looks at the kleenex and laughs. Turns to leave, stops, looks back)

So what?

(She rips up the papers and throws them in the air, exits laughing)
