Monologue Mania Day #1098 Time Challenges by Janet S. Tiger (c) Feb. 14, 2017
                                Time Challenges
                                                 (for The Senior Channel)
                                                     A monologue by
                                                    by Janet S. Tiger

(The older gentleman emerges, dressed in a long flowing robe.  He is trying to look...ethereal.)

Hello...hello....my dear friends in senior channel land!

I am here.....or am I?  what is real?  What is truth?

These are the issues of all time, and that is what is the challenge.....I read often about climate change, and how upset people are that we humans are affecting the climate of this planet!  How the arguments flow!  WE are changing the climate!  We are NOT changing the climate!  Oh, how the battle bulges!

And yet I wonder, does no one think how amazing it is that we, puny little people we are....look at us!  I am this tall.....

          (Holds hand on head)

And perhaps I was once taller, but of the seven billion of us....none are much bigger, and we take up a TINY piece of this planet......even with all our noise, and smells, and complaints.....how egocentric to think WE can change the climate!  But if we can.....and it looks good that we can, my friends.... We should be proud!  Not angry, not worried, but proud!  We can change the climate!  If we can change the climate, then what else can we do?  Perhaps solve world hunger, world peace....universal peace!  Oh, the possibilities are endless!

And why do we aim at climate.....because let's be honest, no matter how we try, with all the equations of Einstein.....we still....can't change time!  We try, we push the clock forward, we drag the hands back, but no matter what we do.....it just marches on, right over all of us!

         (Hears something, smiles)

And now, it's time to leave....I'm glad we had this little bit of...time...together....

(Turns to leave, stops, looks back)

Although time sure goes like the wind......it sure slows down waiting in the hospital!

(Exits to hope for a time change!)

Monologue Mania Day # 731 Met (for Valentine's Day) by Janet S. Tiger Feb.13 , 2016

For Valentine's Day ....from last year.

                          Met

(The actress comes out - she can be any age, and it might be interesting to have two different aged actresses perform this piece on different nights,  She is smiling, nods)

How did we meet?  Oh, that's a great story!

We met in school...we met at the store.....we met in church, we met on a train!  We met because we worked together, we met because we had friends who introduced us.  We met because he was my boyfriend's best friend!  We met in a park, walking our dogs.  We met....at a meeting!  We met at a wedding.....at a funeral.... at our childrens' school.  We met when he was on the football team and I was a cheerleader.  We were in the band together, on the Academic team together.....working for the same candidate.......We met because he was my teacher, he was my boss, I was his teacher......I was his boss.....we met because we put an ad online, and he was the only one who actually showed up that looked normal!

We met when he crashed his car into mine....we met at the hospital....at the store when he asked me which beans didn't make you pass gas......

We met in a coffee shop, when I spilled my coffee on his newspaper....on his computer... on his lap!

We met........ and it was love at first sight!  There was never anyone else...... we met and we married other people first.......we met and our families loved each other....they hated each other.......we met and we were engaged in two weeks....he was too old.....I was too young....and vice versa!....we married in a year........We met...... and it took us 25 years to get together.....we met and all we did was fight, until we kissed and that was it!

We met and had a wonderful life.....we had lots of problems.....wonderful children.....great sadness.....
We met and it has been a story filled with more twists than ......a bag of pretzels!
It's been an amazing time.......we just met and the rest is just beginning....

I suppose everyone's story is important to them....but I guess, when you get down to it.....all that matters is......we met.......because....we were meant to be........met.

(She exits to a wonderful Valentine's Day)
-------------------------------------------------------------

For a second way of doing this -

(A male actor is seen throughout her words watching her.  When she finishes, he smiles.)

How did we meet?

Just the way she told it!

(He reaches out his arm and she takes it to exit together.)
