Monologue Mania Day #1093 The Best Whine by Janet S. Tiger (c) Feb. 9, 2017
The Best Whine(c) all rights reserved 2017
                                                 A monologue by
                                                    by Janet S. Tiger

(The actress enters,  with a glass of....wine)

My back was in agony, and I kept telling everyone where I worked - finally, my friend Sherry turned and looked at me and she shook her head told me...(imitates friend)...'And they say there's no such thing as a good Jewish whine!'

We laughed for hours.....and my back still hurt, but I didn't notice it as much.  And I started to think about whining, how it is something that only living organisms do, because.....it is a God-given right!

Everything living thing complains - dogs, cats....even guinea pigs!  And the sound is recognized, the tone of the voice - or bark, or squeak - identified from a distance....the whine of the engine when it is ready to break....yes, engines live (anyone who has owned any vehicle can attest to this!)

And the right to complain must be fought for, and enjoyed!  Because.....whining is the way we all connect to each other.....the universal thread that allows us to understand the world....one of the few common elements that we all share......everyone poops, and everyone complains.....sometimes about whether or not we can poop!  Life can do many things....but it always complains!

(Turns to leave, stops, looks back)

Death just smells......

(But who's complaining?  Not this actress!)
