(This is an older man who has seen a lot, but has managed to survive. He has an educated English accent, and is holding an unlit cigar)
See this my friend?
(Waves the cigar)
I have saved this cigar for many years. Almost fifty to be exact. 1967.
The list. The Queer List. I was on it. Like most of my friends......arrested for the horrible crime of loving a man.....
List. Funny how the idea of being on the right list is so important when you are young.....and then, the wrong list. How to get off......
(Laughs)
I thought you would get that little joke.....
(Listens)
What happened on that wonderful passage of that too late law......we were no longer criminals for love. But now, today, we have been....pardoned. All of those with criminal records......pardon me.....all of those now with FORMER criminal records have been absolved!
(Looks at the cigar lovingly)
You ask me why I have not lit the cigar....well, I may have been pardoned, but I am still waiting.
(Turns to leave, stops, looks back)
You see, I was never waiting for the pardon....I am waiting for.....the apology!
(Exits to a new world - where pardon me, things are different!)

This is based on the following law - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexual_Offences_Act_1967
and the recent pardon by the Queen.
