Monologue Mania Day #972 Too Much by Janet S. Tiger (c) Oct. 11,  2016

In the Jewish religion, tonight is Erev Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement......

                                          Too Much ......

(The woman is talking on the phone while dressing)

Yes, I know told you I'd finish with Dad sooner, but I just couldn't run away so fast, it is Erev Yom Kippur.....ok, I know he doesn't care much about that stuff anymore, but......okay, I'm getting ready as fast as I can!   No one cares if we're late for services!  I mean, God understands!

Wait!  I have something to say!  You know, this is the time to ask forgiveness for all the mistakes I've made during the year.....and I just want to say, I'm sorry, I mean, I really didn't mean most of them......

          (Laughs)

I forgive you, too......guess what?  I was leaving when I said the same thing to Dad.....and I told him I was apologizing for not just THIS year, but all the years.....all the problems I put him through when I was a teenager, then marrying that guy after three dates, and the divorce, and all the troubles......and he got this look on his face......

          (She looks in wonder)

(As her father)  I can't believe it......

(As herself)  Believe it.....I hope you can forgive me, Dad.....

And you know what he said?

(She is now ready to go, stops and looks back)

Too much forgiveness!

(She exits laughing - and may the forgiveness we all need be given and accepted - and may all be written into the Book of Life for a good year.)
