(This is an elegant woman, older, but has worn well.  She is holding a bag, which she opens and looks at and then sighs deeply.  British accent)

I'm so sorry I don't feel up to going with you today, I just don't have the energy...and going on a boat after all this, well...I'm glad you understand....., but I do want to thank you very much for taking these out and scattering them over the water.  Edward wanted his ashes out over the sea, which he loved so much......

(She looks away, a little misty-eyed, then snaps back)

......and God knows he looked good in his uniform.....I've heard that sometimes, the ashes form a cloud, and that cloud lifts away into the atmosphere and the winds blow it all over the planet......I think he would have liked that very much.....

(She closes the bag and hands it over, then stops)

Has it really been six months?  Where does the time go?  A year ago we were planning a vacation, now.....I suppose, he'll be on vacation permanently.

Hard to believe......heavy.....

I mean, the ashes are heavy.  I never knew ashes would be so heavy.....I suppose, it's the bones....

(She moves the bag up and down as if weighing it)

Oh, well......, I suppose that 'ashes to ashes' is the appropriate expression now.....

(She turns to leave, stops, looks back)

But ...once you take the ashes......... who will I talk to now?

(She takes the bag, hugs it, then passes it along, and exits ...to a one-sided conversation)
