Photo Bomb(c)
(for Senior Channel)
a monologue

Boom! That's what we think of when we hear the horrible word...bomb.
Yet the young have now usurped this word and use it in the incredible expression...PHOTO BOMB!
I asked my grandson what that meant and he explained...it is a....
(Takes out a card and reads)
Photo bomb......a photograph that has been spoiled by the unexpected appearance of an unintended subject in the camera's field of view as the picture was taken.
(Holds up photo to look again)
Perfect word! This photo was taken supposedly of me..last week......but there, see, right there....
(Points)
That's my mother! How did she sneak into this picture? She's been gone seventeen years! She's a photo bomb ghost!
(Deep sigh) See, this picture is supposed to be used for some publicity for a new art exhibit I just installed......
(Shakes head sadly)
Here is the truth about photos......they, too, go through changes, and not just Polaroid photos! When you are young, people look at your photo and they say....Oooh! How cute
Then you get a little older and they say...'How beautiful! But you're better in person...' So you don't change the photo......
Then you get...older and they look at that same publicity photo and say...'oh...'
Then they look and say...'Is that you?'
Then .....'that's not you!'......
And finally.....'Who is that?'
(Turns to leave, stops, looks back)
Of course, who cares what they say, as long as they don't put it in for your obituary! Because when you get down to it...... that's really the bomb!
(She laughs as she exits, still in the picture!)
