(Spotlight on the woman who is older and shielding her eyes, looking around in awe, looks at her watch,)

Yep, it's the time they told me to be here. But I still can't believe.it......am I really here?  That's a lotta people!  I can't believe it's me, here, for real....in front of the Congress.....both House and Senate, a combined hearing because caregiving is finally being recognized as valuable!

That caregivers are worth a lot - not just the ones who get paid, but the rest of us who take care of family and friends for nothing......actually, less than nothing, because when we take care of these people we love, we also get no money put into Social Security for us, and we often leave jobs that pay well to care....and when we get back, we have missed out on raises, which would mean we miss out on more money into Social Security......

Now I would not have missed taking care of my......you fill in the blank ...mother, father, husband, wife, child....grandparent...friend....! No, I would not have missed out on that honor......  but I do not think it's fair that when WE retire, we have to miss out on what is fair for us!  We save the government $350 billion a year!  So I think, I hope, that all of you will realize, it's time to take care.....of those who take care!

(Takes a deep breath, looks around, turns to leave, stops, looks back)

Why can't I believe I'm really here?  BECAUSE I'M NOT!   I'm talking to a bunch of other caregivers!  There has never been a session of both the House and the Senate to discuss these bills!
These bills have yet to be passed!

         (She points to her watch)

 So.......my friends......don't you think.....it's time?

(Lights dim on her.  End of scene)
