Monologue Mania Day  # 191 by Janet S. Tiger     I Hate My Birthday!     Aug.22, 2014
                               I Hate My Birthday!

(A girl comes out onstage, she has on a party hat and she holds up both hands)

Don't say it!  Please don't say it!

        (She shudders)

I heard someone say it, but it's not, and it will never be....a happy birthday!

And that is because....I HATE MY BIRTHDAY!

Did you hear that?

I believe this whole thing about birthdays has got to go!  I mean, when people lived only 32 years, each one was a big deal, but now we live to like, a gadzillion and five, or a hundred and twenty, so what do we need to celebrate for every year?

I mean all a birthday means is that we are one year closer to death!

(She shakes her head, then covers her ears)

I refuse to listen to anything pleasant!  It's my birthday and I can do whatever I want, right?  And I don't wanna hear this stuff!  I'm not celebrating any more birthdays!

(She stops and takes her hands off her ears and brightens up a little.)

Where did you say?  We're going where?

        (Gets excited)

We're going to New Orleans....as my birthday present?  Wow!  That's fantastic!

(She jumps up and down and starts to walk off, then stops and looks back)

Maybe I'll wait till next year not to have a birthday!

(She exits, skipping.  The end - but not of birthdays)
