I first wrote this two years ago, after a very rough election.......and it's still true!
And the winner is....

(Actor enters with an envelope, waves it at the crowd.)
Here it is.....the winner of tonight's election!
You say to me....but I know who won! I saw it on TV, on the Internet, in the paper.....I already know who won....but you don't......because some of you are happy and some of you are sad and I have the true winner......
(Opens the envelope and blows it, removes paper)
And the winner is......
(Smiles, points at audience)
You! And you, and you and you! All of us....all of you....because right now, we have just had hundreds of millions of us cast a vote.....something that - in the history of this world - is still an amazing event! And we go on without fighting in the streets, and with our heads held high because...... even if we didn't like the results.....we are still......family. Because....in four years we can change things, in eight years....more change......we are able to work together and fight together and .....live together because we are more than just pieces of paper and chips and chads and mail-in-ballots! We are.......the winners!
(Turns to leave, stops, looks back)
And don't you ever forget it!
(Exits to -we hope!- a great future)
