Monologue Mania Day # 1390 Meditation by Irene Tiger and Janet S. Tiger (c) Dec. 4, 2017
                                                        Meditation
                                                                by Irene Tiger -
(I added one line so it is now) a monologue by Janet S. Tiger (c) all rights reserved 2017
tigerteam1@gmail.com

(Actor floats onto the stage, ethereal in robes or whatever is needed to be other worldly)

You are in outer space.  You are in a galaxy and you observe the brightness, the formation of the stars, the colors of the galaxy.

You're sailing through space....... you're all alone in the beauty of the void.

And then you dive into a star!

It is very bright.

You are surrounded by a flash......

Then everything comes into focus and you are on a realm a strange realm a land with magenta mountains........

With pink snow and purple rivers and a pale pink sky and trees that are a fluorescent greenish purple...

And you're walking through the woods near the purple river and you come across a flower and you inhale the scent of the flower.

It has a sharp minty fragrance and you lie down next to the flower on the grass which is deep blue and velvety soft.

You spread your arms and legs and close your eyes and you inhale the fragrance of the flower and listen to the sounds of the river nearby

And notice the greenish purple treetops against the pale pink sky

And you are content....and you inhale....and you exhale all the tension....you release your tension and you know all the problems of the terrestrial world are but short fuzzy fragments of dreams dreamed long ago....

(The actor turns to leave, stops, looks back, slumps)

And then the phone rings......

         (Exits to the real world)

-------------------------------------------

After a very long day, my wonderful daughter invented the above meditation to help me relax.  I truly enjoyed it, and, needing a monologue for tonight - and it being almost midnight! - I added the line -
'and the phone rings' so that it is now a monologue.  Thank you, Irene for a meditation I will use again - with my phone turned off!  xoxo, Mom

                                                     Jenga Life

(The actor enters carrying a box, which he places on a table or chair-or the floor if no other surface is available- he will now show what is in the box is a stack of Jenga sticks)

Life Jenga....... the fact is my life..... it feels like it's piling higher all the time...... a piece of support is taken out and put on top....

         (He shows how this works)

...... so it's no longer support....... it's just a problem weighing down on me...... when will the support come out where everything collapses, that's the game...win....lose....but in life.....the game is different....the loss hurts more......

It's funny that  when you're young you have a different type of worry....... will the person like me will I see them again ..........are they what they appear to be....... is there more to them ....less than what I hope.....what's gonna happen........

The fact is ......do we ever know who another person is?

......all we can do is hope and yet...... and yet.....

The reality of life is very strange ........truth is a Fickle lover.

For years everything remains the same ........just like in  Jenga ........it doesn't fall down....just keeps getting higher, and higher....... and then one day something happens.....something new......like..... a skate park opens...........down the street......where there was a park your kids would play in when they were little.......and it takes them years to build to park........and you drive by.....and a kid walks in front of your car......... or maybe not walks but skates in front...... you jam on the brakes...... do you hit him? ....do you miss him?....... if you miss him .......the Jenga stack holds........ if you hit him...... then the whole thing falls a crumpled heap ......and unlike the game of Jenga .......not so easy to clean up....

But if you don't hit him..... the pile gets higher........ each time you pass some of these kids...... another brick goes on top of the stack.......

Yes ......I know it's not a brick .......it's just a piece of wood ......but in your heart it feels like a brick because you know the laws of probability....the odds are ...that sooner or later that pile has to fall .....the table jiggles .......someone gets hit.......

(He pushes the stack and it falls, he turns to leave, stops, looks back)

Jenga life ......we all live it everyday....it's not if it will happen.....it's ....when....

(He exits to more Jenga life)

Monologue Mania Day # 1388  Onion Power! by Janet S. Tiger (c) Dec. 2, 2017
                                                     Onion Power!

A monologue by Janet S. Tiger (c) all rights reserved 2017
tigerteam1@gmail.com

(The actor comes out with a box of kleenex.  The actor is dressed as an.....onion.  Yes, an onion, as much as necessary to give the sensation that a real onion is about to speak)

Here....for those of you who react immediately, I brought these.....

          (Holds up the kleenexes)

You shouldn't be crying yet, because my root tips are still intact, and I took a cold shower.  But some people just are prejudiced against onions, and the whole point of my little talk here is to introduce you to the reality of onions, with the supreme goal of reducing said prejudice.

And yes, for those interested, I have studied the law, hence my speech patterns.  However, due to an unfounded prejudice against produce receiving advanced degrees, I am not yet allowed to take the bar exam.  This I hope will change after my lawsuit, but that's for another day.....today I am interested in challenging your prejudices.....yes, YOUR prejudices!

I see you looking around.  You know who you are!  I am a humble vegetable....allum cepa to be specific.  Not an object for derision!  Not to be denigrated and diminished by your nasty comments....oh, yes, I hear them even when you whisper!  Your breath smells like....onions!  Don't have onions, you'll be around other PEOPLE!  As if everyone hates us!  And then there's the snide awards - Orchids and ONIONS!  With the onion awards going to the horrible designs!

Well, please remember......onions are living things!  We are also here in almost all your foods - whether as onion salt, or chopped, sauteed or grilled.....we change something dull into something exciting!  We are the savior of old meat and unappetizing salads!  We are...ONION!

(Turns to leave, stops, looks back)

So stop your sniveling!

(Exits to help a hamburger get tastier)

Monologue Mania Day # 1387  More Beer? by Janet S. Tiger (c) Dec. 1, 2017
                                                         More Beer?

A monologue by Janet S. Tiger (c) all rights reserved 2017
tigerteam1@gmail.com

(Man in his ....maybe sixties?.....looks not too bad for his age, but very worried)

Ok, doc, I dunno know what to do.  If I had to remember all the women I grabbed, hey, we could be here all week!  I mean, I grew up when it was a fun time, I may have missed Woodstock, but the 70s were wild, and the 80s, wow!  Did I do wrong?  I thought women wanted it!  That was on every channel,e very headline!

Hugh Hefner made it easy, but then the internet, hey, what a place!  It's not fair to change the rules!  If they didn't want to at first, you talk a little more.....back in the day, there was a shirt, it said....'no' means more beer!  And that was true, lemme tell ya!

It's like if they changed the tax laws and made you go back and pay tax on things you never knew had a tax!  This is like....sex tax!

And they say it happened one way, well, that's not what I remember!  I remember....a lot of fun!  A lot of....agreement that it was fun!  And there were no complaints, lemme tell ya!....and if there were, hell, we were all too stoned to worry about it!

Okay, so if someone complains now, twenty years later, thirty years later for God's sake!, I'll apologize because that'll get me off the hook.  An apology that sounds sincere, it works good, on women, on the public.

(He turns to leave, stops, looks back)

What do think is gonna change?  You know what all this stuff means....more business for hookers!

           (No exit for this dilemma)
