Monologue Mania Day # 1300 One Hundred Bar Mitzvahs by Janet S. Tiger (c) Sept. 5, 2017

Numbers - I love numbers!  On this 1300th night, I think about 100 bar mitzvahs (each bar mitzvah means 13 years) - which would mean 1300 years!  A strange thought, but I often think odd things, as all who read this blog can testify to - and the continuation of this blog has not slowed me down, if anything, I feel I get  to thinking about stranger things all the time.  (for those who want to know more about the bar mitzvah custom- please click here)

As for numbers, I will be visiting my son in about five weeks - he took a job New Mexico two years ago, and it will be my first time in New Mexico in over 44 years!  Where does the time go?  I mention to my husband that five weeks from tomorrow at this time, please God, I will be there.  And in six weeks, I will be home.  He tells me he expects to hear updates of the constantly changing days throughout the next five weeks.  I am surprised - doesn't everyone think like this?  He says no.  Sometimes they do, but it is rarely on a daily basis.  I guess my love of numbers jumped to my son, who is an engineer.  It hopped away from my daughter, who says she is....'allergic to algebra'!  So where does this love of numbers come from?  Which relative contributed the gene into the pool or jacuzzi where I was able to soak it in?  Numbers.  I just love numbers.  Hence one hundred bar mitzvahs.  Now you probably thought this was going to be something about someone's bar mitzvah, or perhaps a Holocaust story about a hundred saved children finally able to celebrate their bar/bat mizvahs.  But I hope changing things up a bit will give everyone a chance to see that even though this is the 1300th night.....perhaps.....there is still a bit of wonder - what the hell will she come up with next?

Many thanks for reading - and commenting! And...for those interested..... I will have a Bar/Mitzvah story.....which day?  Ah, there's the secret in it!

The world's oldest man had a Bar Mitzvah last year - 100 years late!  https://www.timesofisrael.com/worlds-oldest-man-to-celebrate-bar-mitzvah-100-years-late/

And the idea for 100 Bar Mitzvahs came from my hubby, Stan - thank you!
